Last week AR.IO announced a new browser extension which makes finding and viewing arweave content easier, AO added $USDS to their depositable tokens, and more.
Let's get into it.
AR.IO launches new Wayfinder extension update
Finding content on the Permaweb can sometimes be tricky, due to the nature of decentralization - and Wayfinder is a browser extension which aims to make this process a whole lot easier.
Whenever a user uploads data to Arweave, it actually creates a URL which anyone can type into a browser to fetch the data (and this even allows Arweave to host websites). ArNS names can be tied to data for easier access, such as community.arweave.net.
The data at the subdomain can be accessed from any number of the hundreds of Arweave gateways being run by the AR.IO community.
Wayfinder intelligently routes users to Arweave data through these 600+ gateways to make sure access is more reliable, smoother, and faster. This is an extremely important service, as reliably accessing (verified) data provides a better user experience to anyone accessing public Arweave data.
Wayfinder is also open source, and has a companion SDK for developers to build Wayfinder capabilities into their own Arweave and AO applications.
USDS deposits go live on AO
AO has accumulated over $500,000,000 in deposits so far via $stETH and $DAI, and as of last week, $USDS tokens are now supported, too.
The only way for new $AO tokens to be created is by users holding $AR, or depositing the bridged assets mentioned above (not financial advice).
Adding support for $USDS deposits to AO helps more liquidity enter the AO ecosystem, and also incentivizes depositors with $AO emissions.
At the time of writing, over $29,000,000 of $USDS has already been bridged to AO. $USDS is created by Sky (the team behind DAI), and is a direct upgrade to $DAI. The AO dashboard also allows users to switch their $DAI stake to $USDS.

This Week's Featured Community Piece 📝
We're putting an awesome piece of work by @0xTomo, founder of WeaveDB, in the spotlight this week.
0xTomo launched a brand new tutorial called Decoding HyperBEAM from Scratch, designed to help developers understand the internals of AO's node software and learn how they can create their own custom devices to extend HyperBEAM's functionality. You can check it out here.
