Arweave's DeFi scene has been picking up this week with Wander's announcement of Pools, Load Network have built out a super-powered data uploader for Arweave, and more.
Let's get into it.
Wander announces Pools 🦔
Last week Wander announced their new token ($WNDR) in combination with Wander Pools.
Wander Pools is a desktop application which will allow anyone to start mining on Arweave by contributing the idle storage on their computer to the network.
This is an awesome idea because:
- Mining can be difficult for the average person to get into
- It decentralizes Arweave further by bringing new miners into the network
Mining can be a difficult task, and traditionally Arweave has required miners to have large amounts of technical know-how (and storage available) in order to start mining.
Wander Pools brings similar benefits to mining pools on other blockchains, where users don't need to have hundreds of TB of storage to get started. It also launches with a friendly desktop UI which helps overcome some of the UX issues associated with setting up a node manually.
The second major benefit is decentralization. This could potentially bring in hundreds or thousands of mini-miners into the network. The more nodes, the better.
Maybe we'll even see the option for users to run an AO node in combination with an Arweave node too and contribute their spare CPU power as well as storage.
Wander Pools makes up part of a larger launch for the $WNDR token (NFA) - you can check out the video here.
Load Network launches Arweave-native object storage 💾
Load Network has been building out lots of tooling around Arweave and AO, and have recently released an Arweave uploader based on the S3 protocol.
Instead of uploading data to Load and having it pass through their network before settling on Arweave, users and developers now have the option to upload data through ArDrive Turbo instead. This means faster storing, indexing, and caching of data uploads to Arweave.
This is a great tool for developers familiar with AWS and wanting to utilize Arweave - you don't even have to switch out your libraries, you can just drop in an API key and a new provider URL, and start uploading data to the Permaweb.
All that developers need to get started is a load_acc API key and the Amazon S3 SDK installed within their project.
You can check out the full details on how to make use of Load's S3 upload service here.
