GM!
Last week StarGrid announced their public launch for this week, AR.IO announced their first winner of a micro grant and new larger grants, and Load Network built an AWS to Arweave data tool.
Let's get into it.
StarGrid closing in on public launch date ๐
StarGrid Battle Tactics is a game built on AO and Arweave, and the thing that sets it apart is that through AO the entire game is fully onchain - including the logic and game data, and assets.
StarGrid was featured by PlayToEarn last week, claiming the number one spot in top trending Web3 games.
The public launch is coming on May 22nd, so keep an eye on stargrid.ar.io if you want to try it. NFA.
David Kong, the creator of StarGrid, was a professional Street Fighter player and has brought his experience to build an onchain game that aims to utilize the benefits of AO. Check out our interview here if you want to learn more.
AR.IO grants kick off ๐๏ธ
In last week's newsletter, we mentioned that AR.IO were launching a series of micro-grants for creators to build projects on Arweave. Their first micro-grant was awarded last week, for work on AR.IO documentation.
AR.IO have also launched some large-scale grants for community members, including RFPs for an ArNS domain marketplace and a visual ArNS historical explorer. The grants will award between $25,000-50,000 in ARIO tokens. You can apply here.
What's particularly great about AR.IO's initiative is that it focuses on projects with long-term utility, and these larger grant sizes will allow teams to create polished products in the ecosystem. Awesome.
Load Network builds an S3 SDK ๐ ๏ธ
AWS S3 has been a staple data storage service for developers in Web2. It provides distributed data storage so developers don't need to worry about hosting their own data (or their user data), and pay for the required upkeep. This is all wrapped in an SDK to make it easy for developers to use.
Load Network has built on this and brought the developer experience and familiarity of S3 to Arweave.
Developers can generate an API key on Load, just like they would for most Web2 services, and use this to make requests to store objects just like they would usually - the only difference being the data is stored on Arweave.
This is pretty cool stuff, as it essentially allows most web developers familiar with AWS to start storing data on Arweave without having to learn any new tooling.
Obviously there are some notable differences here as data on Arweave is immutable, and Load is working on adding new features. Check out their full blog post here.
