PI becomes transferable, Agents of the Permaweb hackathon prepares to start

The new $PI token becomes transferable, AO Computer's "Agents of the Permaweb" hackathon prepares to begin, and more.

GM!

Last week the $PI token became transferable along with other updates in the DeFi ecosystem, and the Agent hackathon entries closed ready for the opening ceremony today.

Let's get into it.

PI becomes transferable 🔁

The Permaweb Index token ($PI) is a token that represents 1/3 AR, 1/3 AO, and 1/3 ecosystem projects. Users have been able to receive it as emissions by holding $AR or bridging specified assets to AO, and as of last week, $PI became transferable.

$PI is an interesting token as it allows users to get exposure to the entire Permaweb ecosystem through a single token, rather than needing to separately manage Arweave and AO tokens, as well as any fair launch projects they want to delegate to.

Now that $PI is transferable, many teams in the DeFi ecosystem have been picking up support, such as Botega's new PI/AO pool, and Vento adding new PI support.

PI is also interesting because when AO tokens are delegated to PI, they are autonomously managed.

As always this is not financial or investment advice, and you should follow appropriate regulations. You can learn more about how $PI works and its market dynamics here.

Last week was the final date for developers, designers, and others to sign up for the Agents of the Permaweb hackathon.

The hackathon focuses on building autonomous AI agents on AO, with ~$39,000 in prizes.

Even if you aren't participating, following the hackathon is a good way to discover interesting up-and-coming projects being built in the ecosystem.

The registration deadline was August 8th, with the official opening ceremony kicking off at 12PM EST today. You can check out the Luma link here, and the X Space here.
