GM!
Last week saw grassroots community building in Bangkok, HyperBEAM as a platform for Ethereum RPCs, and AOX continuing its growth path.
Let's get into it.
Permabites Bangkok meetup 🇹🇭
As part of AO's Permabites initiative, a gathering of members took place in Bangkok last week.
The meetup focused on exploring core Arweave tools, discussing real-world use cases, and imagining what's next for decentralized, long-term data storage.
Events like these are great for is the organic growth of AO adoption beyond its initial developer circles - and so this event in Bangkok represents something much bigger, and a step towards more community building and adoption.
On X, @plutopheliar described it as "a space to reflect, connect, and imagine a future we're building, together". Sustainable growth and thinking long-term is what leads to real-world adoption.
Awesome to see this event pulled together with help from the AO team and Arweave Thailand. Remember, if you want to host your own Permabites meetup, you can - check out the details here.
Load Network explores HyperBEAM and Helios EVM client ⚡
Load Network's "Hyperbeam Accelerationism manifesto" aims to bring every component of the EVM stack to HyperBEAM (AO's node implementation).
Last week, they stood by this roadmap by porting Helios, a16z's Ethereum light client, to a HyperBEAM device.
From what we can tell, it currently enables running a Helios light client for Ethereum when a user starts up their HyperBEAM/AO node. This is assuming they are using one compatible with Load Network.
Although currently experimental, this brings up some very interesting ideas for the ecosystem as a whole. For example, being able to make standard JSON RPC calls to an Ethereum node essentially running on AO/Arweave, with the guarantees of the stack.
Awesome work from the Load Network team on pushing the boundaries of what's possible on AO.
AOX shares their activity stats 💻
AOX recently shared their activity stats, and how it compared to their previous statistics. They also included an interesting phrase in their post - "stay native" (which we'll get into shortly).
AOX users have now crossed 27,000, and total bridge transactions have crossed 71,000 (up 4.73%). This modest growth amount could suggest the user base is becoming more sticky - existing users doing more with their bridged assets rather than constantly moving funds back and forth.
The trading volume of $wAR was up 15%, surpassing 3,750,000, with over 2,000,000 of it being bridged to AO. This could mean users are keeping their liquidity on AO to use on dApps in the ecosystem, as opposed to keeping it on Arweave.
$wUSDC volume was also up massively (over 30%), which aligns with what we covered last week related to Permswap.
Overall, it's nice to see that metrics for liquidity coming into the ecosystem looking healthy, and slow and steady increases mean more and more users are gaining confidence in AO's DeFi ecosystem, deploying capital, and more. Cool stuff!

This Week's Featured Community Piece 📝
AR.IO put together a great article on the dead internet theory, and what they are doing (along with Arweave) to address some of the issues associated with it. Check it out here.
