Holiday Jam 2025: build games, get prizes

Get your holidays off to a flying start with the latest aoDevBot builders challenge.

GM fellow Arweaver!

The holiday season is right around the corner, and with it comes fun, games, and aoDevBot prizes! If you didn’t see last week’s news, ao Computer Club announced the Holiday Jam 2025 challenge, with $500 worth of prizes for the best festive builds.

Keep reading to see how you can participate and what exactly the judges will be looking for in your submissions.

The next aoDevBot challenge goes live on December 18, and you can sign up now. The challenge runs through the holiday season and ends on January 2, 2026.

$500 worth of prizes are available to creators of aoDevBot mini-apps and games, with $250 for the winner, $100 for second place, $50 for third place, and a special $100 bonus for the community spirit award (this build must be shared on X).

Think your prompt has got what it takes? Here’s what the Longview Labs team will be looking for as we test out your builds:

  • Creativity: Is the game or app a unique build?
  • UI/UX: Does it provide a good user experience?
  • Functionality: How well does the game or app work?
  • Execution: Does it use AO or other challenging platforms?

What to build?

Anything, really. And the good news is that you can submit as many entries as you like (but we recommend focusing on quality over quantity). Building on aoDevBot is an iterative process, letting you upgrade your build over numerous prompts.

So take your take and build something awesome.

If you’re looking for inspiration on what to submit, here are some holiday-themed builds you’re more than welcome to attempt:

  • Snow Globe: Create a customizable snow globe where users can add ornaments, a snowman, or other festive decorations.
  • Holiday Dessert Factory: Make a diner-style game where players prepare holiday treats as customer orders come in.
  • Bug Smash (Holiday Edition): Re-theme a bug-smashing game with festive graphics, characters, and effects.
  • Holiday Tune Maker: Build a simple melody creator that lets kids compose their own festive music.
  • Santa’s Puzzle Helper: Design a set of puzzles that players solve to help Santa reach his destination.
  • Holiday Card Maker: Build a tool that lets users design and personalize digital holiday cards.

Remember, these are just festive suggestions. You can build whatever you want. To help you further, we’re providing a holiday asset pack containing holiday-themed clipart (trees, ornaments, snowmen), as well as audio samples.

And if you’re brand new to aoDevBot, and still don’t know what to build, check out these live builds to get a feel for what’s possible:
