Put your skills to work on the permaweb

From mining and testing to planting onchain flowers, there are lots of ways to contribute

GM fellow Arweaver!

The permaweb has grown for over eight years, thanks to the individuals who show up and lend a helping hand. This week, we’re sharing a few different ways you can join them.

Let's get into it.

Find your spot on the permaweb 📌

Arweave is a highly technical network, yet its code and infrastructure rely on decentralized collaboration. If you’re an engineer or software developer, you’re welcome to review code, as new releases regularly go through community bug testing. Appreciation shoutouts in recent GitHub release notes highlight this kind of community participation.

The Arweave Dev Talk Discord server will guide you in the right direction when you’re ready to dive in.

Similarly, miners play a critical role in the Arweave ecosystem by storing replicas of the dataset around the world, with every new miner adding to Arweave’s resilience. Whether you’ve got the skills to run your own mining node or want to lend some spare storage space by joining a pool, there are plenty of ways to join in.

Our recent issue, 2 million blocks and counting, is a great place to start, with links to a 9-step mining guide and the Arweave miners Discord server.

Bridge building with Paralith

Paralith is a new project on AO, from the team behind RandAO and the Rune Realm game. Currently in testing, users will be able to bridge stablecoins into the permaweb from Base, Solana, and Sui, then trade on onchain limit orderbooks. The team’s docs are extensive, and they’ve been active on X, highlighting their progress.

The project is currently looking for bridge validators who are capable of running a HyperBEAM node on dedicated hardware. Applicants need a public identity and a verifiable track record.

Paralith is an early-stage project, and bridging carries risk, so do your own research first. Not financial advice.

Plant a flower in Forever Garden

Taking part in the community is a contribution too, since an active crowd keeps any network feeling alive. Forever Garden is a welcoming place to start.

Built on AO with permanent storage on Arweave, this gardening game lets visitors grow digital flowers from seed, and any bloom that reaches full maturity stays in the world for good.

The garden just passed 200 days onchain, with thousands of flowers planted by dozens of gardeners and an open source codebase anyone can explore.

Our earlier feature, Inside Forever Garden, has the full story. Plant a flower, leave a message, and help it flourish.

Enter the Decentralize AI Hackathon

Your words can support the permaweb as well. The Arweave ecosystem is a main sponsor of HackerNoon’s Decentralize AI Hackathon, which welcomes individuals and early-stage startups building open AI infrastructure. Entering the hackathon takes a single published post, and an AI-assisted blog generator is on hand to help shape your idea.

Round 1 runs through October 31, with Round 2 following from November to February 2027, so there’s still time to take part. Arweave storage credits are available for qualifying entries. If you have an idea worth building, show the HackerNoon audience where the permaweb fits in.

Last week’s issue covers everything you need to know.

Every contribution, big or small, helps keep the permaweb moving forward. There’s something here for everyone, and the list we offered today barely scratches the surface.

See you onchain.

Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s been unfolding across Arweave and AO.

This week's community feature 🪰

Illustration labeled PERMAFLY depicting a central fly under a sun beam, surrounded by a ring of small fruit icons.

Apus Network just launched Permafly, a fruit fly brain simulation running on an AO HyperBEAM device. Visitors can capture a moment of the simulation as a neural snapshot, which is saved permanently on Arweave. It’s a creative showcase of AO compute and permanent storage working together.
