Welcome to this week's Arweave Weekly Digest. This was really the week of milestones in the Arweave community - lots of new stats hit, and growing user adoption on the permaweb and AO.

Not to mention the wrap up of Arweave India's Hacker House, and some other dApp happenings in the community.

Let's get into it.

Weekly Digest

๐Ÿ“Š Arweave Hits 7 Billion Transactions

Small Arweave logo and the text "Transactions on Arweave". Large text underneath reads "7 BILLION". Text underneath reads "Cheers to everyone that has contributed to this permanent (!) dataset.

It's crazy to think that there are now 7 billion pieces of data being stored permanently on Arweave.

Last week we saw days where there were more than 20 million transactions alone, and one thing is for certain - after being live on mainnet for six years, permanent storage appears to be finding more use cases and growing each day.

The growth of Arweave has experienced a more recent boost as well - Arweave reached 6 billion transactions in around May or June of this year, yet has only taken a few months to hit 7 billion.

The introduction of AO the super computer could well likely be playing a part in Arweave's growth, as it's utilizing Arweave as the state layer for compute.

๐ŸŒ The Permaweb Continues To Grow

Graph with title "The size of the indexed World Wide Web" and sub heading "(Number of webpages)". Graph has "Size in billion webpages" on the Y-axis and dates starting from 11 Jul 2023 to 28 Apr 2024 on the X-axis.

Leading in nicely from Arweave's new transaction milestone is the growth of the permaweb.

Sam Williams, founder of Arweave, tweeted about how Arweave is now storing ~15% of the indexed web. Now with AO, we're seeing full decentralized, onchain applications like Dexi from Autonomous Finance.

By using Arweave and AO, the permaweb grows by default - websites, files, and data can be accessed from your web browser!

Odysee also dropped some more details this week on the migration to AO and Arweave, and their DME (Decentralized Media Ecosystem). User created videos being stored on served on Arweave would also be a massive increase in permaweb growth.

๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ณ Hacker House II wraps up

Outside of the online milestones, Arweave India has been having a 3 day hardcore hackathon session in Mussoorie.

Builds coming out of the hacker house include perpetuals, automated vesting, and more... so keep an eye out for project announcements and launches on AO soon. Oh yeah, and follow @arweaveindia ๐Ÿ‘€
