69 community games to play on the permaweb

See what holiday-themed gems were created during the latest aoDevBot challenge.

GM fellow Arweaver!

The recent Holiday Jam Challenge saw a ton of interest, with a large number of submissions from the permaweb community. In this week’s issue, we’re taking a look at some standout builds, and we’ll show you where you can try them yourself.

Ready to play?

Games galore in the Holiday Jam Challenge 🎮

The Holiday Jam Challenge winners were announced recently, with $500 worth of rewards going to the top 3 builds, and a special community spirit prize going to two notable games.

Including the winners, there were a whopping 69 games submitted over the holiday period, with a few of our own. See if you can recognize which ones were built by Longview Insiders by visiting the build submission page.

OK, let’s start by checking out which game took home first prize.

And the winner is…

…The Gift Saviour

When it comes to game development, this game ticked all the right boxes. It also helps that it’s super addictive, and we like that it made good use of the holiday-themed assets that were available to all game builders.

Featuring a dynamic start menu, a detailed How to Play section, and a Top 100 leaderboard, it’s fair to say that the creator, Bruka Som, went all out on this one. Players even get the chance to win an extra life by answering two permaweb-related questions. Nice!

68 more games to go

6 game title images, each accompanied with a description and a View Build button.

There are so many other games to play from the Holiday Jam, starting of course with the other challenge winners Santa's Gift Drop, Frost & Crumbs, AO Match, and AO Holiday Jump.

These are just a handful of builds, and don’t do justice to the level of quality and ambition seen throughout all the other submissions. There are several types of games you can try, including a 3D maze explorer, an aoDevBot-inspired Flappy Bird scroller, AI Chess, and even the Wander Winter Cup from our friends at Community Labs.

Head on over to the build submission page and see which onchain game you like best.

Over to you

The good news is that you don’t need to wait for another community challenge to build a game on AO. In fact, it’s not just limited to games. Why not try your hand at a journal, a productivity planner, an onchain chat interface, or anything that tickles your fancy?

Just head over to aodevbot.ai, select Build Mode, and tell aoDevBot what you want to create in simple language. aoDevBot does all the heavy lifting for you; zero coding knowledge is required. Once you’re happy with your build, simply hit deploy, and your creation will be stored permanently onchain.

Arweave India’s Prasan Singh is back again with another episode of Humanity & Heritage.

Prasan’s video takes you through the streets of Ahmedabad, a UNESCO World Heritage City with stunning architecture. Well worth a watch.
