GM fellow Arweaver!

There's a lot of evergreen content about Arweave because the protocol itself just continues to work as it's been architected for many years now. We've surfaced some great videos that continue to educate and inspire even years after publishing.

Kick back, relax, and tune into Arweave.

The presentations, interviews, and explainer videos below come from different moments in Arweave's history. A lot has changed since the network launched in June 2018, including several protocol upgrades and the launch of AO Computer.

Some very specific technical details may have altered over time, but the core philosophies and guiding principles are steadfast and as relevant as ever. Keep this in mind as you watch these classic videos.

First up, a presentation and interview bundled into one.

Multicoin summit, December 2019

Presentation slide titled “Exploring the Implications of the Permanent Web” by Sam Williams of Arweave, featuring a Multicoin Capital theme.

Arweave inventor Sam Williams provided a compelling technical deep dive of how Arweave achieves data permanence in his presentation to investors at the Multicoin Summit in late 2019. The second half of the video sees Sam sit down with Kyle Samani, where he dives into Sam’s personal connection to Arweave.

Sam gave the CoinGecko audience a detailed overview of Arweave and the tokenomics of $AR in this interview from March 2021. To put that into historical context, the discussion took place shortly before the madness of the 2021 NFT Summer, when Arweave’s permanent storage became well-known to digital asset collectors around the world. Today, we’re seeing more NFT projects go to Arweave after some creators stopped paying their monthly temporary storage fees. Go Arweave for artists!

How Arweave works, February 2022

Arweave Overview slide featuring a collage of torn newspaper clippings.

It’s always encouraging to see people not directly involved with a crypto project doing their own research. This technical analysis by the Babylonians goes deep into Arweave’s core aspects (circa 2022), and covers topics like blockshadow, wildfire, dropped block probabilities, and more.

Arweave and DePIN, January 2024

The interest in NFTs has changed, but permanent storage remains a universal use case. One such area where the blockweave excels is in safeguarding data for decentralized physical infrastructure networks (DePINs). Sam made a convincing case for Arweave as a cross-chain data storage solution during his January 2024 appearance on Proof of Coverage, a popular DePIN podcast.

Bonus: Listen on the go

We know it’s not always possible to watch a video when you’re on the go, so here’s an audio-only treat for your next drive or jog in the park. Sam Williams appeared on the Permaweb Pioneers podcast in January 2023, where he explored various aspects of the permaweb community with our very own Greg Albritton. Enjoy!
